David Makes Speedy Recovery After Final Heart Surgery

Magic Shows to Resume Oct. 30th at Feinstein’s

Bicuspid aortic valve surgery at Northwestern Hospital in chicago

Here we go again! David was in the hospital again. Only this time it was planned!

David found out 5 years ago he was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. Since then he went to Costa Rica to get stem cells, which helped his situation greatly.

However, he came down with a blood infection from going to the dentist with untreated strep throat. This almost killed him in several ways, but he servived and persevered (Read that story here).

Since then, while David was working and entertaining the masses with his amazing magic, he has also been arm wrestling his insurance to get his aortic valve replaced.

On September 22, 2025, David unerwent a “keyhole” heart surgery to replace the valve. Instead of cutting open the rib cage, his surgeon was able to go in between his ribs to replace the valve. This innovative surgery was available at Northwestern Cardiac Surgery in Chicago, and the experience was amazing.

David is taking off a month from shows and will be back on stage October 30th at Feinsteins, and will finish the year doing a marathon of corporate events and theaters.

Bicuspid aortic valve affects 2% of the population. So it is quite common but often goes undiagnosed. Other entertainers have it as well like Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Ritter, Mick Jagger, Bono, and others.
