DECEPTION is a magic & mind reading show, hosted by magician David Ranalli.

David creates an unforgettable evening by combining world-class sleight of hand, witty banter, and mysteries of the mind. Guests are invited into an intimate, industrial space where surprises lurk in every corner.

Perfect as a date night, group event, and for the hardcore magic fan.

*Note: If the 9:00 pm show does not sell many tickets, all existing purchasers will be moved to the 7:00 pm show. You will be notified 48 hours before the show via email.

DECEPTION is typically hosted at The Speakeasy, an event space located in Indianapolis (Broad Ripple Village).  David also hosts the show at venues in Chicago, as well as other mid-western cities. Please check the tickets calendar for location-specific details.

– Frequently Asked Questions –

This show is meant for adults and teenagers age 13 and over. Guests under 18 are not allowed without a parent or guardian. No babies, strollers, or toddlers will be allowed in the show.

The dress code for DECEPTION can be summed up with one word: COOL. Please wear whatever makes you feel confident and excited for magic. Whatever it is, wear it.

The doors & bar open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Please check in with our team when you arrive. All seating is first-come-first-serve. Anyone with special needs will get priority access and accommodations.

Each ticket gets 2 complimentary drinks from a licensed bartender (non-alcoholic are available also) with lite appetizers (think chips & salsa). No outside food is allowed during the show. Broad Ripple Village has many great restaurants and bars to attend before or after the show.

DECEPTION runs about 60 minutes in length. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Afterward, David breifly hangs out after the show to take pictures and discuss odd things. If there are multiple shows in the evening, please be respectful of incoming guests.

Please notify us in advance if you are celebrating a special evening (birthday, anniversary, etc.). We will do our best to recognize your special moment if possible.

No photography or video is advised during the show. We want you to enjoy the show by being fully present. David will be more than happy to take pictures with you after the show. Please do not share any surprise moments from the show on social media as this may ruin the show for future guests.

Yes, we are wheelchair and walker accessible through the side entrance of The Speakeasy. Please knock on the steel garage door and we can let you in. Please let us know what seating accommodations you require and we will be more than happy to set something up.

Yes, you can buy tickets at the door (if available). However, we advise buying them online before the show so we can get a proper headcount and guarantee your spot. If it says “Sold Out” for a specific time, then we are sold out with no seats available.

All refunds and date changes must be received within 24 hours prior to the show date. We will refund tickets sales or move you to another date, if available. If David Ranalli must cancel the event for any reason you will be contacted about moving your ticket date. No tickets are refunded due to contracting COVID-19.

Hand sanitizer is available upon arrival and throughout the show. Masks are encouraged but not required. David Ranalli will not be wearing a mask during the show. Guests are allowed to sit in the back if they would like to be distanced from other guests. Otherwise, David Ranalli & The Speakeasy abide by the health advisories and executive orders given by the State of Indiana and Marion County Public Health Order.

  • Be respectful of patrons and staff.
  • Please do not be disruptive during the show, or risk being roasted by David.
  • Refrain from fighting, obscene gestures, throwing objects, and engaging in behavior detrimental to the experience of other patrons.
  • Please consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner.
  • Comply with requests from David Ranalli, show, & venue staff.
  • If you are disrupting the show you will be asked to leave, or the proper authorities will be called to escort you out.
